A for Angrezi

‘A for Angrezi’ is Super School’s English speaking program for Delhi’s underprivileged students who face a myriad of disadvantages due to weak command over the language like poor academic performance, weak future employability, disconnect from global India, and self-esteem issues. Speaking English has become a baseline skill for employability across the world, and especially in India. Underprivileged youth do not receive quality English speaking education and an environment in their schools. This puts them at a loss right from the start. Our program is a collection of carefully constructed and fun modules based on the lessons learnt from 3 years of conducting popular and effective English speaking classes for urban slum students in Delhi. We have used this experience to come up with a pilot program which has been in effect for over a year now, having impacted 150 students till date. This program is run after school in our centre and in low-income private schools that provide a space for underprivileged students from the neighbourhood to come and learn. We aim to equip underprivileged kids with the communication skills that will open up a world of opportunities for them.
